It's hard to be mad at your daughter...


...when her reason for not doing the dishes is that she was reading Billy Collins aloud with her best friend.

I always used that reasoning growing up with my mom. It was usually about me wanting her to buy a book for me...I'd be all "at least I'm asking for a BOOK" and which she would reply "this is true"

The words you used to describe this picture had the same nuance as Billy Collins' poetry. Nice post. And if had been my daughter who left dishes in the sink for the same reason, I might make a feast in her honor and add more dirty dishes to the sink.
