Poetry Friday: Wasn't today the quintessence of Just- spring?

in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it's
spring
and
the

goat-footed

balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee
-- E. E. Cummings

in spring, from far and wee, people carry this poem under their rumpled hats and inside the warm cave of their mouths. A wonderful way to celebrate the return of the bunny.

I'm excited to see that you are back in the blogging world. :) What a lovely picture! We had to drive six hours south to see flowers this week.

Love this poem by ee, but I like most of his work. Thanks for posting it and reminding me.

This is the e.e. cummings (I cave to his wishes) poem I was looking for, but couldn't find. Instead I posted "Spring is like a perhaps hand," as one of my National Poetry Month selections at http://wordsrmylife.livejournal.com
