Poetry Friday: Vernal Equinox

Just a quickie today, from the gifted poet Anon, in his Brooklyn incarnation:

De spring is sprung,
De grass is riz;
I wunneh wear de flowers is.
De boid is on de wing --

Absoid! De wing is on de boid!

No flowers, barely any birds, and only chicken wings in this corner of the world on today's snowy start to spring.

THAT poem is a real trip down memory lane. My father (a man who had an absurd sayings or song for every occassion) used to sing song this one all the time. It was a little different, it went,
"Spring has sprung
The grass is riz,
I wonder where the boidie is.
The boid is on the wing,
Ain't that absoid,
I thought the wing was on the boid"

Once grown up I would find out that most of his "quotes" came from old radio shows and the talkies. As a kid though, I thought him a genius:)
